
David Russell was born in Los Angeles, California and received his professional education at Art Center/College of Design. Russell is one of the film industry's top illustrators. Working In close collaboration with respected directors such as George Lucas, Steven Spielberg, James Cameron, Peter Weir and Tim Burton, the artist has co-designed memorable sequences for blockbuster features such as Star Wars: Return of the Jedi, Batman, Who Framed Roger Rabbit, Terminator, Moulin Rouge, The Chronicles of Narnia, Master and Commander, X-Men Origins: Wolverine, Pirates of the Caribbean, and The Meg. Films to which he has contributed his expertise have grossed over $7 billion at the box office, and won 15 Oscar awards. Russell's storyboard work is valued by industry's top directors and production designers for its dynamic and powerful narrative quality. Russell's artwork has been featured in books, magazines and other publications, and is represented in the Smithsonian Institute, Getty Museum, Film Museum of Norway, and in numerous private collections. His acclaimed Master Class on the art of storyboarding has been presented in the US, Australia, Belgium, Sweden, Norway, Switzerland, Denmark, Serbia, The Netherlands and Singapore.
