Ramin Yazdani (born July 20, 1952, in Isfahan, Iran) is an Iranian-German actor and director. Ramin Yazdani grew up in Iran, where he gained his first theatrical experiences as a teenager. After studying economics, theater studies, acting, and film in the United States, he initially returned to Iran before moving to Germany in 1985. In Hamburg, he founded the Persian Theater in 1991 and the Festival of Iranian Theater in 1995; he also worked at venues including the Deutsches Schauspielhaus, the Thalia Theater, the Hamburg State Opera, and Kampnagel. In addition to his work as a director, he realized numerous independent theater projects. Since the early 1990s, Yazdani has appeared regularly in film and television productions. His credits include *Hallo, Onkel Doc!*, *Ich Chef, Du Turnschuh*, *Der Medicus*, *Kreuzweg*, *Familie verpflichtet*, and the Norwegian series *Nobel*. For his lead role in *Si-o-se Pol – Die letzten Tage des Parvis K.*, he received multiple international awards for Best Actor. Furthermore, he has held guest roles in series such as *SOKO Leipzig*, *Notruf Hafenkante*, and *Großstadtrevier*, and has also worked as a voice actor for radio plays. In 2021, Yazdani participated in the #allesdichtmachen campaign, in which actors offered satirical commentary on COVID-19 containment measures. He lives in Hamburg and is the father of the historian Kaveh Yazdani.
